SOMETHING OF MY OWN
Life is simple until I use my brain
Never question the things you can't explain
Deep down inside
I know there's something missing
CHORUS
Blinded by day and lost in lies
Feeling how I was always told
I'm living someone else's life
Searching for truth to call my own
Searching for something of my own
Feeling strangled for voicing different thoughts
Smile, pretending my air is not cut off
Deep down inside
I fight to find the surface
The answer's clear
Your future is pre-approved
The fairytale seems easier than truth
How can we blame each other?
CHORUS
Blinded by day and lost in lies
Feeling how I was always told
I'm living someone else's life
Searching for truth to call my own
I suffocate in lies
Feeling what I was always taught
I'm living someone else's life
Searching for truth to call my own
Searching for something, something of my own

Notes:
"Life is simple until I use my brain" is the first line
of the driving title track about discovering your self amid the rules of society and
organized religion. Growing up in Soviet Russia, Marina saw a lot of repression in regards
to expressing opinions and thinking in general. But even in democratic countries, mass
media & government propaganda severely affect the way people live and think.
"Sometimes it feels like it's easier to coast through life and follow everyone else's
footsteps", Marina comments. "But it is so much more exciting to make your own
choices and be yourself."
Marina's Notes:
This is definitely one of my favorite songs from this album to play live.
