I really like Marina V's "You Make Me Beautiful". Memorable melodies!! ~ Billy Steinberg, hit songwriter (penned Madonna's "Like a Virgin", JoJo's "A little too late", Cyndie Lauper's "True Colors", and many, many more) Tiffany from PA Steve from UK: . . . . . it would be nice to hear you live again. I listen to your CD frequently in the car going to and from work. I know your music a lot of the time seems to mirror my past or my feelings, so it is frequently something that i can enjoy or reflect with ~ Allen (Southern California) . . . . . .Marina is an extremely talented artist, who is incredibly versatile. Her music demonstrates her ability to both write and perform songs that have a large appeal. At first glance, you may think that this artist is just another keyboard player, but after hearing Marina perform, you will know that you have just heard something wonderful and unique. ~ Kevin Brakenhoff (Springfield, IL) . . . . . With so many styles of music mirroring each other, Marina's sound is fresh, unique, dramatic and moving. Hearing her and the band is a memorable experience. Being a music enthusiast I liked it after listening to the first CD ONE TIME! ~ Yulonda R. Lanich (Springfield, IL) . . . . . Marina should have a permanent place in any CD collection. One of the best and most talented new vocalists and songwriters to come along in years, her music and lyrics are a powerful blend of melody and emotion. Add to that a wonderful voice (and very sexy Russian accent) and you have a truly winning combination. There are no weak points on this CD. Each song is riveting and each portrays an enjoyable exploration that Marina makes of her music and, I think, of herself. :-) ~ Erik Stultz - Springfield, IL . . . . . guess what? I was in line at Eagles food store a couple days ago when I overheard two young guys (early twenties) talking about liking a couple songs of yours. After mentioning to them that I saw you in an actual performance out at that benefit party, they seemed to be amazed that I actually saw you in person after hearing them praise you ... Someday I can say, I heard her when she played a benefit I attended. I wish you the best ~ Danny Hicks (Springfield, IL) . . . . . I really, really like your music, your stories, your very special and emotional singing and how you express yourself in your music. ~ Nicholas mp3.com/soulmachine (Sweden) . . . . . I came into Borders to write as I usually do - with background music. However, this was the first time I was captivatingly distracted to the point of not lifting my pen! You guys are GREAT! ~ Phillip Tomek (Chicago, IL) . . . . . A really wonderful thing you are doing! Thank you ever so much. ~ George Haggard (Champaign, IL) . . . . . You have a beautiful voice and a fantastic musical ability. I thoroughly enjoyed your concert. I have a good feeling that we'll be playing your songs on the radio for years to come. ~ Caleb Huffman (Springfield, IL) . . . . . I look forward to seeing you perform again... you've got a great sound that can only take you higher... ~ Andy Cramer (Springfield, IL) . . . . . I sat for almost two hours totally absorbed in each word and note as they flowed from either Marina, her piano, guitar or band. ~ Kristy DeWall (Bloomington, IL) ..... Cool CD you've got there. Very emotional, very "on the brink". I like that. ~ Derek from CD Baby . . . .You're going to Wow them. You are so talented and very attractive. A winning combination. ~ Ray Nalepa (Colorado, USA) . . . . Well....I'm glad I went to border's tonight. Unfortunately, for me, I missed most of your performance, but I must say, your voice and the lyrics of your songs will never be forgotten. And, in the future when I'm at home, work or cruising down the highway, playing your CD will take me back to this night when your music touched my soul. ~ Chris Urmeneta (Tulsa, Oklahoma) . . . . I read your biography. Sound like a great adventure movie. Your life story is impressive! But what really struck me is such you're a nice and approachable person with a quick smile. You have a great future. You've only just begun! . . . . thank you so much for inviting me to your beautiful website. What I found was really something. You must have heard this maybe a thousand times, but you are very talented woman. ~ Jaako (Finland) . . . . Your music is waaaaaaaay cool. it rocks! You're a real talent, and I feel so incredibly blessed to have such quality on the site. I think a lot of people are going to like your music over here. Maybe we can get a few of . . . . I really liked your new song "Falling" (I'm not sure if this is the correct name though), it was the best. First I thought I've heard it already somewhere, and this is a good sign. Have you heard of the story that when Paul McCartney wrote "Yesterday" and sang it to the rest of the Beatles, they all said something like, "Hey, we've heard that song already somewhere"? ~ Julia K., Los Angeles, CA . . . . . I've been listening to your cd everyday... It's very inspirational!! I'm passing in on to alot of my friends..You have to let me know where and when you'll be performing next... I want to bring some of my friends to hear you..I never have bought a CD from someone I've heard in a club..but you were exceptional!!! ~ Suzy, Sherman Oaks, CA . . . . . I listened to the new songs on your website.. and as always, they are awesome! you have such talent with your voice and with music, it is a powerful combination! ~ David, Orange County . . . . You were great! The choruses really stood out on the songs you played, and your voice sounded amazing. Hope you're getting some good record company response. ~ Rob, Los Angeles, CA . . . . Over the years my interest in contemporary music has been honed and cultivated by listening to mainstream record labels played on the local airwaves. Until one Christmas season over a year ago when a friend who owned a coffee shop in Glendale, invited me to listen to an eclectic group of emerging artists promoting their songs by doing their rounds of local coffee shops, clubs and restaurants in the greater Los Angeles area. After a cup of coffee at Patrick's Cafe in Glendale or a savory Chinese dinner at Genghis Cohen on the Westside, you can listen to original compositions of these very talented artists gratis et amore. Their creations rival that of top mainstream artists and if listened to by a wider audience, will likely get equal acclaim. One of these emerging artists is a young and strikingly beautiful girl named Marina V., a Russian emigre who has immersed herself in the culture, language and arts of America since her early teens as an exchange student to this country. Listening to her songs stirs a whole gamut of emotions. They are melancholy, passionate, sentimental and sometimes angelic as if emerging from some secred place. Her style has been characterized as a cross of Tori Amos, Jewel and Paul McCartney but I also hear a hint of Shania Twain. Her voice, like Celine Dion, whose mother tongue is French, also evokes a folksy warmth by her very slight Russian tone. She is also multi-talented because she not only sings but plays the piano and keyboards like Burt Bacharach. I do not profess to be an expert or someone who has specially keen ears for music. I am an ordinary guy who simply loves beautiful music. Marina's songs captivate me. If they do to me, then so to a lot of ordinary mortals. Isn't that an apt and fitting place to get her accolades? ~ Danny Nicolas Glendale, California . . . . . Just wanted to let you know, I have been down to Phoenix twice since getting your cd's. Listened to them the entire trip!!! Great driving music. Otherwise, hope you are well and success finds you quickly. ~ Jim A., Las Vegas, Nevada . . . . . . I love the CD. It is absolutely fabulous. It kinda sucks that you play way out in California. I'd like to see one of your shows. ~ Michele W., Michigan . . . . . I just wanted to say that I really did enjoy your performance at Borders. You have a beautiful voice and powerful songs. I wish that I could have purchased a CD but unfortunately I am a "starving student" with money for only the necessities. Please keep me posted on the next time that you will be in Las Vegas. I would love to see you perform again. ~ Sara, Las Vegas . . . . . I have to inform you that, after watching your concerts twice, your performance have re-ignited my music bugs in me. I started playing the guitars again! (A Tele and a J-Bass) I have not done so for 10 years already... So. THANKS!!! :) ~ Alex, Glendale, CA . . . . . . I am, perhaps, a discriminating listener, and I think you are very, very talented. I look forward to telling one of my undergraduate students (a talented young Russian piano major on scholarship) of your work. ~ Gary, Las Vegas . . . . . . i was more intimidated because of your talent.. you are a really amazing artist.. im sure you are told that all the time.. but you really touched something in me.. i was really impressed.. well enough butt kissing for now.. when are you going to be back around here?~ Clark, Las Vegas . . . . . The first time I saw you was at Patrick's cafe in Glendale, Ca. You were performing that night and I thought you were great. I just want to commend you on the hard work and dedication you have been putting into your career. You are truly an inspiration, at least to me and I am sure to many others. You have a wonderful voice and a great talent so please continue pursuing your dream and I know one day you will really see your name in lights. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to get acquainted with you and hear your beautiful voice. Sincerely, Diana S., Glendale, CA . . . . . I have to say your music has really made an impression on me. Your melodies, lyrics and production sound are just perfect for what I like to listen to. I know you are going to be a household name one of these days! ~ Jane, UK . . . . . I found you by looking at a website for independent music. Then I checked your site and heard samples of the new CD, and decided I had to have it. Your voice has a mystique but also a familiar quality that wraps around me. The piano riff in Something of my Own is mesmerizing. Maybe you should post more sound samples of the earlier cd - the song I heard sounded quite good (When I Need You Most). ~ Chris, San Francisco . . . . . Recieved my CD! It's awesome...I love it. You must be very proud of such a great accomplishment! I can't really tell you my favorite, it's too hard to choose. That's the way it goes is such a fun song...reminds me of charlie brown. You saved yourself is so true! Ocean takes me away... On this christmas night is so beautiful, it makes a tear come! And thank you for adding Taet Sneg, i love to hear you sing in your native tongue. ~ Scott Z., Nebraska . . . . . You are so absolutly alluring,You have another fan. ~ Jimi E., Orange county . . . . . . Thank You Very Much For The Good Music.I Do Wish To See You Again.I've Been Listening To Your Cd Almost Everyday. ~ Noah, Montclair, CA . . . . . . thank you for performing so beautifully and with such a positive approach. I have had the opportunity to listen to both CDs. You are incredibly talented and have everything a person needs for success (when you smile when you sing so soulfully, you absolutely made my heart skip many beats - I'm sure I'm not alone in this). I hope that the right person hears you in person, as he/she will sign you to a contract on the spot: you're that good. A legendary baseball executive once said that "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." With your outstanding musical talents and charisma, you have all of the preparation needed. Keep believing in yourself and keep working diligently: the opportunity (or opportunities) will arise and the "lucky break" will be yours. This will not be luck by any means, but instead the result of your talents, diligence, and faith. ~ Gary S., Pasadena, CA . . . . . . Besides the fact that you have a beautiful name that compliments your looks, let me tell you that I dont regret a bit having bought your CD. I wish you the best of luck in your up and coming events and hope that you can become one of the greatest Female Singers that ever walked this earth. Even if we dont talk anymore, rest assure that at the pace that you are going, you one day will come home with one or perhaps more grammys. Hope to see you around Chino some time soon, I enjoyed every piece you played. ~ Abner E., Chino, CA . . . . . . it was a pleasure to see you perform. The only thing that outshines your beauty is your incredible talent. I hope to see you perform again sometime soon. Take care..and much respect ~ Steve S., Pasadena, CA . . . . . . I meant every word I wrote in your guestbook. I was inspired by your music and I'm so glad I went that night... I came home and listened to your cd's and loved them, though. The Russian song at the end of the first cd is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent. I hope to see you perform again soon. ~ Jennifer, Pasadena, CA . . . . I like you to know that I did have a hell of a good time listening to you last night! Wished it was only you so I could have listened to more of your songs. (But I'm getting your new CD to quench that thirst!) It is truly refreshing to hear you again after over a year since I first saw you and heard your songs at Patrick's Cafe in Glendale. Your voice is truly captivating, your style is unique and the words in your songs are full of love and passion. You are truly wonderful and it is only a matter of a short time before you get there. ~ Danny, Glendale, CA . . . . . An amazing talent... both lyrically and musically. - David, Hollywood, CA . . . . . Marina V's music has kind of a beautiful haunting quality about it that's inspiring. It's absolutely wonderful to write or paint to. ~ El., Hollywood, CA |
